Yesterday, as millions of people across the country marched in various cities in support of women's rights and equality, I marched in my own little city. This was my first time participating in any type of political rally or march. I didn't know what to expect. Here are my thoughts about it.
For the past few years I've been making a conscious effort to try to be more "green" -- produce less waste, use less energy, reduce my carbon footprint. I try to use reusable products as often as possible, and recycle/reuse things like plastics and fabrics. Here's a list of changes I've made over the past few years.

Yesterday was my 4th year participating in the AIDS Ride for Life. It's a bike ride fundraiser for the Southern Tier AIDS program. I did the 100 mile course, around Cayuga Lake. It's not a race -- just a fun bike ride to raise money for STAP. It's very well organized and lots of people participate. There were 300 volunteers and the riders raised over $200,000.

Last weekend I went camping in Letchworth State Park with Nick, my co-worker Kurt and his wife Megan, and my co-worker Chris and his girlfriend Eliza. All of us have wanted to go to Letchworth but had never made it there before. It's only about 2 hours away and has a reputation of being a really beautiful, scenic park.

Over the 4th of July weekend Nick and I headed up to the Adirondacks to visit some of his family and go camping.
Friday we drove to his grandparents' house in Luzerne and stayed there for the night -- which was great because it poured that night. I was really thankful not to be in a tent.
